Remote Desktop Support

Some of the challenges in providing remote support for networks are:

  • A software package that allows the clients easily install and setup
  • A software package that can support multiply workstations on a network with any firewall configuration

As we own the software there are no licensing fees for clients. There are no contracts, no monthly costs, just an hourly rate when used.

Being able to provide remote support is a sensible solution in being to provide quick support. While not all issues can be addressed with this tool it does provide the means to fix numerous issues that would otherwise require a service call. In addition remote support can be a real aid for us as talking a phone can often be difficult, but with remote support, issues can be fixed quickly. And at no extra charge.

One of the key features to our support solution is the security that is built into our product. Unlike Remote Desktop or VNC or PcAnywhere our solution requires that you the client initiate the support call. This means our software does not run as a windows service and we can only gain access to workstations once we get that service request from you. To help notify technical staff that there is a support request you can also use our trouble ticket system which sends email alerts to our techs in the field. Once we receive an alert one of our technicians will contact you and then we can begin the service call remotely.

Our software also provides the option that service requests can be initiated to commence after hours. This means that routine workstation tune-ups can be done after hours.

Network Upgrades and Wireless Solutions

One of the key components to a successful network is a properly installed network cable system. All to often in this business we see patch cable being strung from ceilings, or worse cable rooms that have network cable all over the place and not properly labeled.

At i-level solutions we believe that a well designed network is an art and as such we believe that networks should have the following:

  • Properly installed network cable using quality cable and termination - not just long patch cables.
    Punch Down blocks to serve as a single point for all network cable.
  • Network Switches with all cables labeled.
  • Proper network diagram that shows all cable and other network equipment.
  • Patch cable used only where it is applicable. Note Patch Cables are designed to be replaced. Therefore they should be used when connecting workstations to wall plugs, and connecting switches to punch down blocks.
  • Quality Network Switches. Cheap switches are always a temptation for small business. However a quality network switch in the long run is the best solution as they will last for years, and without common failures such as ports no longer working, or switches hanging and needed rebooting. Quality switches also provide the best in network speed.
